DRONE - a frustrated #poem

Day by day,
A drone I become
I buzz around
The work gets done

What will become
Of the hive
If I wasn't there
To keep it alive?

I can't ever be queen
In this colony
Wondering when I'll realise
It'll never be me...

FIRE - a poem

FIRE
smothering smoke
TO OPERATE
the destructive flames of hell
Turn on main valve
flick, flickering
Take hose to fire
the scorching blaze
Turn on water at nozzle
the intense heat of the inferno

MARS POLAR LANDER - a poem

Little green men
With a chewy caramel centre
Inhabit the red soils.

I spy one now
Walking a sour worm-like creature
By a licorice leash.

Sometimes I think they see me
Like they see the station orbiting.

But not me
Left behind
Observing their sweet existence
While the universe wonders.

NOT A STRANGER - a poem

A stranger
Our eyes smile at one another
And wander
A known face
A lost name
A smile that says
“Do you remember”
A stranger.

A stranger
I turn away from
I scan all the photographs of my life
Hoping to find him
And then
He says my name
The dots connect
Not a stranger

STOLEN KISSES - A Poem

Did the beach bring light
Into our eyes that night
Or was it the stars?
A match struck
And many hearts brightened
When knowns became the unknowns
Became the knowns.
Stolen glances
Accompanied stolen kisses
And others watched on
In disbelief.
Was it the sounds
The surrounds
That decapitated many of us?
Was leading with out hearts
A good idea,
Or will we never know?

Writer's Block: Better than leftovers

If you had to eat the same thing for dinner every night for the next year, what would you choose?

CONNECTION - a poem

I think we’ve met before
Once
In another world
Before

Our minds connect so well
Together
In another world
Once

(One of my first experiences of thinking I'm in love - early 2000s)

THE FAIRIES - a poem

I sit
In my sunshine patch
Amidst the Norfolk pines
And wait for the fairies
Unmistakable
Flashes of light
I see a glimpse of one
As it dodges behind a tree
Others are
Tittering amongst the dandelions
Many pizzicato flutters
As they swoop and soar
Somersaulting
With the autumn leaves
In the scanty breeze
I dance and spin
Oxygen racing through my veins
Even when they go,
I never want this moment to end

(Unsure when I wrote this)

INSIDE - A Poem

I escape the threshold of time
Overwhelmed in the seconds and years
In my world
All the time to discover
Proud faces
A smile
The love
Waiting inside the books.

(I wrote this about 8 years ago)
